Construction work will continue as normal during the summer holiday. The highest point of the new building is expected to be reached in the week of 21 August. The floors on the first storey are currently being cast in concrete and the lift shaft is beginning to take shape. Work will begin on the roof supports next week. The highest point will be the technical area on top of the roof; the building's indoor climate will be controlled from here. The footbridge was intended to have been installed during the summer holidays, but has a longer lead time than expected. It is now expected to be installed in mid-September at a time when classes will not be disrupted.
During the holiday, the Preparatory Year and the Orientation Year will relocate to the sixth floor of the Benthem Crouwel building after it has been renovated. The layout of the second floor of the Rietveld building will also be modified to enable Fashion, and Beeld en Taal to relocate there. Inter - Architecture will make way for them by moving to the first floor. TXT will not only be extended with a room on the first floor, but will also gain additional space through the inclusion of the caretaker's office in the existing TXT location. These moves constitute significant progress towards the planned final layout of the buildings
The next update on the new building and upcoming relocations will be issued at the start of the new academic year.
